The WellTools Flow Control Sub is designed to be used in conjunction with a PDM motor or jetting tool which has limited flow capacity. The Flow Control Sub allows the optimum flowrate to reach the tools below whilst dumping any excess to the annulus.
The tool is very simple to set up and operate. Once the optimum flowrate and pressure drop have been calculated for the tools below the Adjustment mechanism is used to set up the Flow Control Sub. The Flow Control Sub utilises the pressure drop from the tools below to move a Piston within the tool which can vent fluid to the annulus. The tool will be set up so that any flow over and above the optimum flow for the tools below is diverted to the annulus. The flow rate can be increased as often as required with the Flow Control Sub automatically opening and closing. |
