The WellTools Bow Spring Centraliser is a hydraulically actuated expandable centraliser. Rather than running a fixed diameter centraliser which must pass through any nipple restrictions in the wellbore, the Bow Spring Centraliser allows the operator to have a full gauge centraliser in the BHA whilst still being able to pass through any restrictions in the wellbore.
Operation of the Centraliser is simple – back pressure from the lower orifice moves a hydraulic piston attached to one end of the bow springs expanding the springs radially outwards. This expanded diameter is maintained as long as the flowrate is maintained. Stopping flow through the tool allows the Bow springs to collapse below the body OD.
The Centraliser is fully adjustable from the tool OD up to the recommended maximum diameter for each size. |
